Load-stabilised crane systems
Cranes for rolled profile transportation
In the modern steel trade, rolled profiles are transported using magnet lifting technology mounted on a load-stabilised crane. The magnet lifting technology used for this transportation task has very narrow magnets so that even small profiles can be held safely in the carrier beam. Larger profiles can also be carried safely in the beam with the same magnets by turning the magnets actively or passively. The profiles need to be approached with precision in order to pick them up into the beam. Without a load-stabilisation unit on the crane, this takes a great deal of time. Another problem when picking up material without a load-stabilisation unit is that the crossbeam can become twisted and, as a result, the material may end up being picked up off-centre. If this happens, the picked-up load cannot be transported safely.
This transportation task requires a double trolley solution, i.e. a crane solution with two trolleys moving separately from one other, so that the different lengths of material can be picked up and transported safely with the same load-handling equipment. This means that standard lengths from the works as well as cut sections and residual lengths from the works can be picked up with both or just one of the trolleys.
